IT’’S KARUNA She’s graceful- “Which reminds me of the time I stood on my hem while getting on bus...and the journey my skirt took...” She has certain standards that she expects of her men- “It was actually the "pervy hobbit fancying" that put me off.” She’s health conscious and super fit- “I have taken one ballet class since I moved back to Dublin and I was so wrecked and the muscle burn was so bad afterwards that when suddenly the bus seemed to appear out of nowhere and I tried to run to catch said bus my legs buckled underneath me. It was really funny. For everyone else.” She’s handy around the house - “I got loads done on my daughters bedroom this weekend. Smashed her old broken chest of drawers to pieces with a hammer. That felt good:-)” And even better with flat pack furniture- “Just put the handles on the inside of the drawers.” “Masonry Hammers aren't good for wood either. Little too heavy for sinking a dowel in. As a matter of fact dowels disappear when you use masonry hammers.” She’s ambitious and driven- “ Sleep.... work... sleep...work. Oh fuck it - I am going to lie down for a while.” She’s great with kids- “I asked her to empty her old chest of drawers last night. 30 seconds later she announced "I did it mammy" "Huh? That was quick," I said. I went her into room to see that she had taken her drawers out and emptied them out onto the floor. Perhaps I should have clearly stated that I wanted her to put her clothes into the new drawers...” She knows how to keep on top of the household chores- “Does putting my laundry in the rubbish bin, instead of the laundry basket, count as a Freudian slip?” She has the career you have always wanted but could only just dream about- “A client crapped on the toilet floor. On purpose.” She’s an incurable romantic- “ Oh Lordy Lord, I could really do with some manmeat right now” She ‘s really good at dealing with conflict- “Had my hair pulled by the local shits, one ended up in my house after being pushed in by his friends. I was so sorry they did not knock again as I had a huge basin of water by the door just waitin' for 'em...” She knows how to impress men- “He was gorgeous. Except he called VERY early. The scene involved me falling around the sitting room while on my mobile frantically telling my daughter not to open door till I had my jeans on. She opened the door just as I was zipping which is no mean feat while stumbling and having a phone conversation.” She’s always perfectly groomed- “Put make up on- my mascara seems to have curdled or summit. Can it do that? The consequences of that are that I now have just two thick eyelashes, one on each eye. My deodorant also smells like gin. I might just bury my face in my armpit for the day.” She’s really supportive of her Friends- “Oh it's not really PMT," I said to her, not quite understanding why one of my best friends in the world was now suddenly glaring at me. "Have you read this book," I said in my most pretentious, lentil eating, long flowy skirt, tie die clichéd voice, handing her a copy of The Wise Wound. "You know it doesn't really hurt, it's all because you have internalised all those nasty icky menstrual taboo's patriarchy has created" "Oh go shove your fucking Birkenstocks up yer gee, would ya!" was her reply.” She’s always upbeat and optimistic- “ I wish I was fucking dead” She’s tolerant and open minded- “I got home at 7 am this morning. They woke me up at 11am. They woke me up to ask me "Would you like to know more about the bible" They woke me up after four hours sleep. Jehovah’s witnesses, cruel bunch.
